Interior design by Madelon
‘A good interior is a personification of those who live in it'. It is not about trends and transience. Interior is about emotion, your own identity and timeless design.
As a child I wanted to go to nautical college, just like my father I wanted to be first mate (wife) and travel around the world. We soon found out that I am not suitable for science, however creativity is my real talent. From an education in fashion, I rolled into the interior design profession and gained many years of experience.
A few years ago I started Design Unlimited, because of the discovery of my own identity and the passion to make beautiful interiors, according to the wishes of the client, the residents. Not conceptually with a fixed combination, but new designs every time, looking for the right furniture and fabrics. I do this by visiting the annual interior design fairs in Paris, Milan and London.
A frequently asked question is 'what it looks like at my home'. The well-known saying; at the painter's place the paint leaves the windows is also a little applicable to us. But the house is a place of its own and a reflection of who we are. It is clear that we love a Burgundian lifestyle, are sportive, often live outside and value personal items. It doesn't have to be all that neat, but the pots of sauce don't come on the table. They really go in a nice bowl. A beautifully set table gives a luxurious feeling. Going through the day with my family (husband Martin and daughter Bastienne) at the table is the most valuable thing. Cooking for me is relaxation and a good meal includes a good glass of wine.
In the style of cooking and living we like to go to Italy and southern France. However, Cape Town stole our hearts a few years ago. A place on the ocean with its good vibe and fantastic nature. The water has always been an important factor in my life. Grown up on the Reeuwijk lakes, the water has an incredible appeal and gives a feeling of trust and tranquility. Walking with the dog along the waterline through swampy land is good for the creative brain.
